  • Gary Woodland secured his first PGA Tour victory in seven years at the Houston Open on Sunday, following brain surgery in 2023 and a battle with post-traumatic stress disorder.
  • The 41-year-old American, who won the US Open in 2019, became emotional after holing his final putt, winning the tournament in Texas by five shots over Denmark’s Nicolai Hojgaard.
  • Woodland finished 21 under par at Memorial Park Golf Course, including a final round of 67, having taken a one-shot lead into Sunday.

  • Woodland expressed gratitude to his family and team, stating his game is “better than it's ever been” and encouraging others not to give up.
