Newcastle United managed to boost their squad with a signing outside the transfer window this term.

The Magpies needed a young winger, resulting in a call to an ex-West Ham United man.

Amadou Diallo has been with the Toon Army's Under-21s this term, playing eight games.

Diallo spent ten years with the Hammers, but was without a club in the summer.

Diallo told the Chronicle: "Newcastle needed a winger, they got in touch with my agent and I came down for a two-week trial.

"I played one game, they liked what they saw and offered me a contract.

"They just said to express myself, to play my normal game as I'd done well to get signed.

"Be positive with the ball, take my man on, get involved in goals. It's similar to West Ham.

"It's a humble club, everyone works hard and the staff are good with their players. Everyone is open to speak to everyone, it's been good.

"It's really exciting, especially to see what the first-team are doing. It's motivation for me to keep playing well, and wait for my opportunity if it comes."
