KL Chinatown Festival @ Petaling Street
You’ve probably noticed how the Chinatown area has become an increasingly popular nerve centre for the city’s F&B and arts scene, what with the fresh crop of bars, restaurants, and galleries that now call the vicinity home. If you’re hoping to experience all of them in one go, then you’d be wise to keep the inaugural KL Chinatown Festival marked on your calendars. One of Our Fossils by Adam Phong @ A+ Works of Art
An exploratory narrative into the subliminal relationship that humans share between space and time, past and present, Malaysian artist Adam Phong’s exhibit One of Our Fossils will officially be open to the public on 16th November 2024 at A+ Works of Art. Comprised of three experiential spaces, visitors will be ushered through a dynamic interaction of mediums that evoke the transcendence of time that culminates with a ritualistic display of totems constructed out of chicken bones. Curated by Bob Edrian, the opening reception will also be complemented by a dining experience courtesy of Bono Dining.

Pingmin Coffee Festival @ Pavilion Bukit Jalil
Another installation of Pingmin’s beloved Coffee Festival will be held at Pavilion Bukit Jalil on the last weekend of September, for those of you who missed it the first time around. As is the case from before, this is set to be one of the largest coffee-centric events in the Klang Valley, which will play host to not only a spectrum of local and regional vendors, but also workshops and even championship events.

RABAK by Maizul the Artist @ ZHAN Art | Space
RABAK, a solo exhibition by Maizul the Artist at ZHAN Art | Space, offers a comprehensive look at the artist’s recent work. The exhibition showcases two main elements: a video documentation of action painting performances from 2022-2023, and a collection of 15 abstract paintings. Many of these paintings are part of the ‘Pain to Paint to Pain’ series, titled RABAK Vol 2, which builds upon the previous RABAK Vol 1 from 2022.
The exhibition highlights the profound emotional connection between the artist and his work. Maizul’s abstract paintings, created through real-time live-action painting sessions in 2022-2023, aim to evoke deep personal and emotional responses from viewers. The artwork reflects the artist’s journey and experiences, emphasising the themes of emotion and sensation throughout the exhibition.
