Acclaimed French chef brings his refined French-Japanese cuisine to EQ Kuala Lumpur for seven unforgettable evenings.

Kuala Lumpur’s fine dining scene welcomes another international culinary heavyweight as EQ presents an exclusive seven-night residency by MICHELIN-starred Chef Charles Coulombeau at Sabayon from now to 29 July.

Perched on the 51st floor of EQ, the award-winning rooftop restaurant will host the celebrated French chef for a limited engagement, giving Malaysian diners a rare opportunity to experience his signature cuisine without leaving the country.

Renowned for its sweeping city views and recipient of the Wine Spectator Best of Award of Excellence every year since 2020, Sabayon continues to cement its reputation as one of Malaysia’s leading destinations for world-class gastronomy.

Recognised by the MICHELIN Guide for his work at La Maison dans le Parc in Nancy and Yozora in Metz, Chef Coulombeau has earned acclaim for cuisine that balances classical French techniques with subtle Japanese influences and contemporary global flavours.

His cooking is defined by restraint rather than extravagance, allowing exceptional ingredients to shine through thoughtful compositions that celebrate precision, seasonality and harmony.

The result is a style that feels elegant yet approachable, where every element serves a purpose. Created exclusively for Sabayon, his five-course tasting menu offers an intimate reflection of this philosophy.

Guests begin with the refreshing interplay of avocado, sake and pear before progressing through a sequence of meticulously crafted dishes including lamb with lime and tarragon, hamachi paired with cucumber and coriander, tamagoyaki elevated with caviar and yuzu, scallops accompanied by carrots and nori, and duck served with sushi rice and blackberries.

The experience concludes on a delicate note with desserts featuring orange blossom, passion fruit and jalapeño, before ending with nougat and Bergamot de Nancy — a tribute to the chef’s hometown and culinary roots.

To further elevate the journey, guests may opt for expertly curated five-glass wine pairings or indulge in a premium pairing designed to complement every course.

Chef Coulombeau’s Malaysian residency also marks a collaboration between EQ and Malaysia Airlines, bringing together two of the country’s leading hospitality brands through the Enrich loyalty programme.

Throughout the residency, Enrich members will enjoy an exclusive 15% dining privilege, alongside access to a special one-night Chef Series presentation that offers a closer look at Chef Coulombeau’s creative process and culinary inspirations.

“This collaboration reflects Enrich’s commitment to creating meaningful experiences that go beyond travel,” says Philip See, Chief Executive Officer of Loyalty & Travel Services of Malaysia Aviation Group. “By connecting our members to culture, lifestyle and exclusive privileges, we continue to deliver greater value and make every journey with us even more rewarding.”

Running for just seven evenings, Chef Charles Coulombeau’s residency offers one of the year’s most anticipated dining experiences for discerning gourmands.

Priced at RM788+ per person, with optional five-glass wine pairings available at RM288+ or a premium pairing at RM488+, the residency represents a rare opportunity to savour the cuisine of one of France’s most exciting MICHELIN-starred chefs while overlooking Kuala Lumpur’s glittering skyline.

For lovers of contemporary French cuisine, it promises to be an experience that extends well beyond the plate.
