THE Social Security System (SSS) and the Commission on Filipinos Overseas (CFO) signed a memorandum of understanding expanding the social security coverage for overseas Filipinos and their families.
SSS was represented by its CEO Robert Joseph Montes de Claro, while the CFO was represented by its chairman, Secretary Dante Ang II. The goal of the initiative is to boost awareness among overseas Filipinos about SSS membership, benefits, loan offerings and the MySSS Pension Booster. Ang said the collaboration would give the CFO’s mandate a more practical dimension by connecting Filipinos overseas with social insurance, retirement planning and financial security programs that can remain relevant even after they leave the Philippines. ”Our kababayans (compatriots) abroad work hard to support their families, build communities and contribute to national development. In return, the government must ensure they can access reliable information, essential services and meaningful social protection wherever they may be,” Ang said. De Claro said the partnership seeks to improve access to social security services and equip overseas Filipinos with the tools to make sound decisions for their financial future and family protection. ”Together, we can reach more overseas Filipinos and give them the know-how to fully utilize SSS programs designed for their financial security and overall welfare,” de Claro said. The new agreement builds on the two agencies’ prior cooperation that began in 2025: the KaSSSangga Collect Program, which expanded SSS coverage among CFO’s job order and contract of service workers.
