Kota Kinabalu: A forensic document examiner told the Coroner's Court that her professional opinions were limited to the documents submitted for examination, the methods available and the scientific limitations outlined in her reports.
Forensic Document Examiner and Certified Handwriting Expert Dr Linthini Gannetion said not all laboratory examinations could be conducted because the evidence could not be transported for more comprehensive analysis.
The 74th deponent said the limitations affected the scope of testing available, but maintained that her findings were based strictly on the evidence and materials made available throughout the examination.
Dr Linthini also stressed that her role required her to provide independent and impartial findings without influence from any party, adding that her overriding duty as an expert witness was to the Court.
She told the inquest that her written statement was prepared to assist the Court and that her conclusions were supported by her professional knowledge and expertise in forensic document and handwriting examination.
