TRAVELLERS planning to return home for Hari Raya Aidilfitri can still purchase express bus tickets to most major destinations across Malaysia at Terminal Bersepadu Selatan (TBS), though seats on some east coast routes are almost sold out.

A survey by Harian Metro found that while tickets remain available for journeys to northern, southern, and other eastern states, areas such as Kelantan are experiencing heavy demand, leaving limited departure times for those travelling from TBS.

Destinations including Kota Bharu, Machang, and Pasir Mas in Kelantan have tickets available only for 10 pm and 11 pm departures on 17 March, with all tickets for 18 and 19 March fully booked. Passes to Pasir Puteh are similarly sold out for 17 to 19 March.

Tickets for other east coast states, including Terengganu and Pahang, remain available for travel on the same dates, providing some flexibility for travellers.

Meanwhile, tickets to northern destinations such as Perlis, Kedah, and Penang are still widely available, although several routes have seen heightened demand. Southern routes remain largely accessible, with most destinations open for ticket purchases.

Transport authorities and operators anticipate that demand for bus travel will surge in the coming week as more Malaysians plan their return journeys to celebrate Hari Raya with family.

Travel officials urge passengers to secure their tickets early to avoid disappointment, particularly for high-demand routes on the east coast. - March 13, 2026
