The F1 Gulf Air Bahrain GP in Malaysia 2026 brings racing, concerts by Martin Garrix and Axwell, and family entertainment to Sepang.
KUALA LUMPUR: The Formula 1 (F1) Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix (GP) in Malaysia 2026 will feature plenty of family entertainment for the fans to enjoy at the Sepang International Circuit (SIC), Sepang, during the race event from Oct 2 to 4.
According to a statement from the Bahrain International Circuit (BIC) today, the family entertainment at the fanzone in SIC would include the renowned Chinese acrobats, an army of delightful roaming performers and concerts featuring A-list music artists, among others.
“On the Sunday night of F1 weekend, multi-platinum-selling hit-maker Martin Garrix will headline the post-race celebrations, which is scheduled to start at 8.40pm local time (3.40pm Bahrain time).
“On Saturday evening, Grammy-nominated DJ and producer Axwell will be taking to the SIC stage at 7.35pm local time (2.35pm Bahrain time),” it said.
It said, F1’s superstar drivers and their teams will be hitting the track for two 60-minute practice sessions on Friday with the first is scheduled for 12.30pm local time (7.30am Bahrain time), to be followed by the second at 4pm local time (11am Bahrain time).
On Saturday, a third 60-minute F1 practice will run from 12.30pm local time (7.30am Bahrain time), and then qualifying will be held at 4pm local time (11am Bahrain time) that will determine the starting grid for the Sunday’s 56-lap F1 Gulf Air Bahrain GP in Malaysia 2026 race.
The race will be flagging off at 3pm local time (10am Bahrain time).
In the meantime, the BIC informed that Formula Trophy Malaysia (FTM) will also be taking to the track at SIC throughout the race weekend.
“The South East Asian single-seater championship for junior drivers will be showcasing the talents of motorsport’s future stars, who will be competing in identical Tatuus F4-T421 racing cars powered by Abarth, and with all cars running on Giti tyres,”it said.
In July, Formula 1 confirmed Malaysia as host of the Gulf Air Bahrain GP from Oct 2 to 4, following an agreement between Formula 1, the International Automobile Federation (FIA) and governments of Malaysia and Bahrain.
The agreement keeps the Bahrain GP on the 2026 F1 calendar after the race had been cancelled earlier this season due to geopolitical tensions in West Asia.
Malaysia previously hosted the Malaysian GP at Sepang from 1999 to 2017 before the race was dropped from the F1 calendar.
