TUARAN: A 22-year-old factory worker was killed after his motorcycle collided with a sport utility vehicle (SUV) at Jalan Marabahai Tambalang 2 here on Tuesday morning.

The victim, identified as Yerricho O’Veall Paumin from Kampung Botung, Kota Belud, was confirmed dead at the scene from severe head injuries despite wearing a helmet.

District Police Chief Supt. Noraidin Ag Maidin said initial investigations showed the victim’s SYM motorcycle rammed into the front-left side of a Toyota Fortuner that was turning into the junction.

The SUV driver, a 67-year-old man, escaped unhurt. The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving.

Police have urged road users to remain cautious and prioritize the safety of others while on the road.
