Lembah Pantai Ramadan bazaar traders to receive e-POS units, RM100 rental subsidy and RM30,000 association grant from MP Fahmi Fadzil.

KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 325 traders at two Ramadan bazaars in Lembah Pantai will receive Point of Sales (e-POS) facilities and reduced rental fees.

The initiative, announced by Lembah Pantai MP Datuk Fahmi Fadzil, includes providing canopies, aprons and e-POS units in collaboration with Touch ‘n Go.

Fahmi, who is also Communications Minister, said the support aims to help local traders reduce operating costs for the Ramadan season.

“Although the Federal Territories Minister has announced a ceiling of RM400 for stall rental, I will assist by contributing and refunding RM100 to each trader,” he said.

This means traders at the Pantai ‘Bazar Ria’ and Taman Seri Sentosa bazaars will only pay RM300.

Fahmi spoke to reporters after the Touch ‘n Go Tent Handover Ceremony to the Pantai Dalam Bazaar Hawkers Association.

He also announced a RM30,000 contribution to traders’ associations in the Lembah Pantai area.

The grant appreciates their role in managing trader welfare and addressing issues.

Fahmi said discussions are underway with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) to assist other capital bazaars.

This includes implementing the Safe Internet campaign at bazaars not managed by Kuala Lumpur City Hall.

He acknowledged management challenges over the past few years, including stall allocation and enforcement issues.

“I have asked the associations, which are very familiar with the traders here, to give opportunities to local traders,” he said.

Fahmi added that accommodating a large number of traders remains an issue.

He assured that efforts are being made to ensure more people can benefit from the bazaar opportunities.
