Kota Kinabalu: MALAYSIA’S chances of advancing to the round of 16 was effectively ended on Saturday after the 0-1 loss to Bahrain in the second Group E match of the AFC Asian Cup at the Al Janoub Stadium in Doha, Qatar.
A victory was non-negotiable for the players against Bahrain if we were to stand any chance of progressing following our earlier 0-4 loss to Jordan in the opening game.
But despite playing a much better and spirited game, we still fell short. We did have our scoring chances though but unfortunately they all went wasted.
In this evenly fought game, a team must grab the goal-scoring opportunity to win the tie and unfortunately we failed to do that.
