Fajardo dispels concerns over elbow injury

JUNE Mar Fajardo assures San Miguel Beer (SMB) fans that his elbow injury is nothing serious as some may think.

The nine-time league Most Valuable Player missed the Beermen’s first game for the PBA Season 50 Governors’ Cup last Tuesday due to a hyperextended elbow.

SMB struggled in the first half, trailing by as many as 11 points, before a scoring surge in the second half led by import George King and CJ Perez allowed the Beermen to zoom past the Macao Giant Pandas, 123-109, in Antipolo.

“I’m joining the team in our practice. And hopefully I’ll be able to play on Saturday,” Fajardo said after the game.

The 6-10 Fajardo sustained the injury during Gilas Pilipinas’ recent FIBA World Cup 2027 Asian Qualifiers against Australia, the Filipinos suffered a 92-49 beating from Australia in Perth.

Backup big man Rodney Brondial was a beast at front court as he finished with 25 rebounds accounting for nearly half of the Beermen’s 53 boards against Macao.

The former Adamson big man also scored 10 points and issued seven assists in 32 minutes of action.

San Miguel will be eyeing for its second straight win come Saturday against Terrafirma at the Ynares Center in Antipolo.
