
Kota Kinabalu: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has arrested a civil servant in Sabah suspected of submitting false claims for land compensation payments worth approximately RM111,000.
According to sources, the suspect in his 50s was detained around 11am Monday while giving a statement at the Sabah MACC office.
“The suspect is believed to have committed the act in 2014, allegedly to help his family member obtain land compensation payments, under the pretext that the land was involved in a road construction project when in fact it was not,” the source said.
MACC Sabah Director Datuk S. Karunanithy said the case is under Section 18 of the MACC Act 2009.
