A family from Singapore has lodged a police report after alleging two men entered private massage rooms at a Johor Bahru spa without authorisation.
A SINGAPORE family has raised concerns over customer privacy and safety after a man allegedly entered their private room during a massage session at a spa here.
Speaking to Shin Min Daily News, one of the family members, Hong Jianwei (transliteration), said he and three relatives travelled to Johor Bahru on Aug 30 for a two-hour massage session which began at about 9pm.
The 40-year-old said he and his wife, Gao, 40, were assigned a private room, while the other two members of their group were placed in a VIP room.
About 35 minutes after the massage began, Hong said a man wearing a white short-sleeved shirt came upstairs and shouted that he was looking for a driver.
According to Hong, the man did not mention a vehicle registration number or specify who he was looking for before allegedly opening the door to their room.
“We were lying on the massage beds, partially undressed with our backs exposed, when the man opened the door,” Hong was quoted as saying by Shin Min.
Gao said she was almost completely undressed at the time and remained on the massage bed instead of getting up to see what was happening.
She claimed the masseuse subsequently chased the man away, describing the incident as embarrassing.
In a Facebook post the following day, Gao questioned how an unauthorised person could allegedly gain access to a private massage room while customers were undressed.
She said the incident had made her concerned about the establishment’s privacy and security measures.
The family claimed that another incident occurred several minutes later when a second man knocked on the VIP room occupied by the other two women in their group.
According to Gao, the man said he wanted to collect a pillow.
The incident reportedly alarmed one of the women, who stopped her massage and left the room to find out what was happening.
Gao said the matter was subsequently brought to the attention of the spa’s management.
She claimed the manager acknowledged that the incidents should not have occurred and accepted that the establishment was at fault.
The spa reportedly offered to waive the massage charges for all four customers. However, the family declined, saying they wanted the incidents to be investigated instead.
The family then went to a police station at about 11pm to lodge a report.
Gao said a representative from the spa later arrived at the police station to assist in identifying the man involved.
However, the family reportedly disputed the identification, saying they did not believe the person presented to them was the same individual who had allegedly opened the door to their private room.
The family was subsequently directed to another police station, where they claimed to have waited from about 1.30am until 4.30am.
They were then reportedly told to return home and wait for further contact from the local police.
The allegations made by the family have not been independently verified.
