Famous man loses court bid to stop media printing allegations against him

  • A famous man has lost a High Court injunction bid to prevent ITN and Guardian News and Media from publishing allegations of sexual misconduct against him.
  • The unnamed man denies claims that he abused his status over many years to engage in inappropriate and exploitative sexual activities with young women.
  • Lawyers for the man argued that publication would have a potentially fatal impact on his mental health, following two previous suicide attempts.
  • Media organisations countered that there is a strong public interest in exposing men who use their status to misconduct themselves against women.
  • Although Mr Justice Nicklin refused the injunction, the man cannot be identified publicly pending any potential appeal.
