
KOTA BARU: Datuk Seri Farhash Wafa Salvador, the sole recipient of the Darjah Pahlawan Yang Amat Gagah Perkasa (PYGP), heads a list of 779 recipients of state honours and titles in conjunction with the 57th birthday of Sultan of Kelantan Sultan Muhammad V today.
Human Resources Minister Datuk Seri R. Ramanan was among the prominent recipients, having been conferred the Ahli Yang Kehormat Yang Pertama (Seri Paduka) of the Darjah Kebesaran Jiwa Mahkota Kelantan Yang Amat Mulia (SJMK), which carries the title Datuk.
The conferment also made history as Ramanan, who is Sungai Buloh MP and Parti Keadilan Rakyat vice-president, became the first person from the Indian community to receive the SJMK since its establishment in 1925.
Membership of the SJMK is limited to 50 recipients.
In a statement following the ceremony, Ramanan expressed his highest appreciation and gratitude to Sultan Muhammad V for the conferment, describing it as a trust to further strengthen his service to the King, the people and the country.
Besides Ramanan, Datuk Razali Daud, Datuk Rosnazli Amin, Datuk Daniyar Kessikbayev, Datuk Leon Emil Le'mercier, Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail and Datuk Mohd Khidir Yaacob were also conferred the SJMK at the ceremony.
Other recipients of state honours included former Chief of Defence Forces General (R) Tan Sri Datuk Raja Mohamed Affandi Raja Mohamed Noor, Armed Forces chief General Tan Sri Malek Razak Sulaiman, Army chief General Tan Sri Datuk Seri Azhan Md Othman and Finance Ministry Deputy Secretary General of Treasury (Management) Datuk Sri Ab Rahim Ab Rahman, who received the SPKK and SPSK respectively.
The ceremony also saw the Chief of Defence Forces and Chief of Army conferred state honours. - AWANI
