THE Department of Agriculture (DA) said Wednesday that it had signed a memorandum of agreement with the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) to build 29 farm-to-market roads (FMR) worth P430 million across the Mimaropa region.
DA Regional Director Christopher Bañas emphasized the importance of FMR projects in improving the movement of agricultural products from production areas to markets.
“Through our partnership with DPWH, we want to ensure that these projects are properly implemented and that our agricultural communities truly benefit from them," he said.
Funds for the projects will be transferred to DPWH based on approved project milestones, and upon the submission, validation, and acceptance of the required technical, physical and financial reports.
Funds will be released in at least three tranches to ensure proper monitoring and utilization.
The two agencies will also work together to ensure that the projects are implemented in accordance with prescribed technical standards and project requirements.
The public can track FMR projects through the DA's FMR Watch.
