Kota Kinabalu: A 41-year-old farmer was charged with committing physical sexual harassment against his daughter.

The man pleaded not guilty before Sessions Court Judge Elsie Primus.

He is accused of committing the offence against the 14-year-old girl by fondling her breasts and touching her private part.

The alleged incident took place at 5.30pm on July 7, 2019 at house in a village of Kota Marudu.

Read more The offence under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017 provides for a jail term of up to 20 years, and whipping, on conviction.

Due to the relationship between the man and the alleged victim, there is additional punishment under Section 16(1) of the same Act carries a jail term of up to five years, and whipping at least two strokes, on conviction.

The court set Sept 8 for pre-trial case management and released the man on a bail of RM10,000 with RM5,000 deposited in two local sureties.

The man was also ordered to report to the Kota Marudu police station twice a month and warned not to tamper with the prosecution witnesses, especially the alleged victim.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Suriyati Jumain appeared for the prosecution while the man was not represented.
