TAWAU: A 24-year-old man was killed in a collision between an oil tanker and a Perodua Bezza along Jalan Selepas Bandar Balung here late Wednesday morning.
The Fire and Rescue Department received the emergency call at 11.44am, and 11 firefighters from the Tawau Fire Station arrived at 12.20pm, about 40km from the station.
The Bezza driver had already been pulled out of the vehicle by members of the public before firefighters arrived. He was later pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel.
The tanker driver escaped without injuries. The tanker, which was carrying palm oil, was later removed using a crane belonging to the responsible company.
