The “drug-free Haryana” awareness programme held at ITI-Bhodia Khera in Fatehabad district on Friday turned into a major public outreach event promoting a drug-free, safe and empowered society. Students, youth groups, social organisations and officials from various departments participated enthusiastically and pledged to support the anti-drug movement.
SP Nikita Khattar was the chief guest at the event. She was welcomed by ITI Principal Ramesh Kumar with a bouquet, while students greeted her with a traditional tilak ceremony.
Addressing the gathering, Khattar said the fight against drugs was not merely a legal battle but a mission to protect families, social values and the future of the younger generation. “Public participation is the most powerful weapon against drug abuse,” she said.
The SP highlighted the Haryana Government’s commitment to a “Nasha-Mukt Haryana” and said the Fatehabad police was carrying out sustained operations against drug traffickers. She said illegal properties worth over Rs 6 crore linked to drug trafficking had been attached so far, while hundreds of traffickers had been arrested.
Khattar also announced that extensive awareness programmes would be organised across schools, colleges, villages and community organisations to strengthen social resistance against drugs. She urged young people to stay away from addiction and spread awareness among friends and families.
