Intensifying the Punjab Government’s campaign against drug abuse, MLAs across the Fatehgarh Sahib district have stepped up grassroots awareness efforts by mobilising village and ward defence committees.
In Bassi Pathana, MLA Rupinder Singh Happy convened a meeting with local defence committees, emphasising that the fight against addiction requires collective civic duty rather than government action alone. He urged committee members to stay steadfast, report suspicious activities and help misguided youth reintegrate into mainstream society. Bassi Pathana SDM Deepjot Kaur, DSP Raj Kumar Sharma and other senior officials were also in attendance.
Similarly, Fatehgarh Sahib MLA Lakhbir Singh Rai met with local residents and community representatives to highlight the devastating impact of addiction on families. Seeking public cooperation for Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s ongoing “War Against Drugs,” Rai stressed that community participation was vital to restoring Punjab’s prosperous identity.
Both legislators called upon citizens, social organisations and youth groups to work closely with the administration to safeguard future generations.
