In a significant political development following the civic body elections, two victorious Independents from Bassi Pathana joined the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Monday in the presence of MLA Rupinder Singh Happy, taking the total number of AAP councillors in the Municipal Council (MC) to 11. Earlier, 9 candidates from the AAP had secured victory in the elections for the MC, which houses 15 councillors.

The new additions to the party include Ward No 8 councillor Gurmeet Singh and Ward No 7 councillor Harjinder Kaur. Welcoming the new entrants, the MLA said the growing support for AAP reflects public confidence in the Punjab Government’s welfare-oriented and development-focused policies.
