KUALA LANGAT - The father of a female student who was stabbed at a school in Banting here yesterday has urged the public to refrain from making any speculation and to leave the investigation to the police.
Mohd Firuz Ibrahim, 43, said he is aware of the allegations circulating online involving a list of alleged targets, which reportedly included his daughter’s name, purportedly written by the female suspect who was her former classmate last year.
"I do not wish to comment further, let the police carry out their investigation. The letter cannot be verified, and we are unable to confirm it. I would also like to stress that my daughter is not a bully. Even when she leaves the house, either her mother or I sends her, and she has never gone out on her own with friends.
"On claims of bullying, I don’t think that is likely. We do not know the suspect’s family, and my daughter has never spoken about this friend (the suspect). My daughter is a quiet person, she only responds when asked and speaks only when necessary,” he said when met at Banting Hospital here today.
Mohd Firuz also expressed his willingness to cooperate with the police if investigations find elements of bullying, and is open to meeting the suspect’s family.
Meanwhile, he said his daughter is expected to be discharged from hospital in about a week, depending on her recovery progress.
He said his 15-year-old daughter is still traumatised but is in stable condition after undergoing four hours of treatment in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) yesterday to remove blood from her lungs.
"As a father, it is heartbreaking to see my child in this state. We have never even hit her, even a minor wound would already hurt, let alone being stabbed.
"I hope this incident serves as a lesson and that appropriate measures will be taken, especially in schools. There should be proper screening at the entrance before anyone is allowed to meet teachers and students,” he said.
Earlier, the suspect in the school stabbing case was remanded for four days starting today until July 10.
Mohd Firuz, when met yesterday, said his daughter sustained injuries to her lungs and suffered 16 stab wounds. - BERNAMA
