MOSCOW - The United States (US) Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has joined the investigation into the disappearances and deaths of at least ten US scientists, including some linked to nuclear research and UFOs, according to the Los Angeles Times, reported Sputnik/RIA Novosti.
Last week, US President Donald Trump pledged to uncover the reasons behind the disappearance and deaths of 11 prominent US scientists.
The FBI has initiated a major probe, along with the Department of Energy, the Department of War, and local law enforcement, into the deaths or disappearances of scientists and personnel tied to highly sensitive research, the newspaper reported on Tuesday.
Media coverage of missing scientists intensified following the disappearance of 68-year-old retired Air Force Gen. William Neil McCasland.
He vanished on Feb 27 after leaving his home in New Mexico. McCasland had overseen projects at the Air Force Laboratory and reportedly held military secrets concerning both nuclear weapons and UFOs.
The case of 60-year-old aerospace engineer Monica Jacinto Reza also drew attention.
She went missing on June 22, 2025, while hiking with friends in the California woods. The researcher developed Mondaloy, a nickel-based superalloy.
Two employees of the Los Alamos National Laboratory also disappeared in 2025.
Additionally, four scientists have died since July 2024: physicist Nuno Loureiro, astrophysicist Carl Grillmair, pharmaceutical researcher Jason Thomas, and NASA scientist Frank Maiwald. - BERNAMA
