Sporting director Enrico Fedele says Napoli president Aurelio de Laurentiis is actively seeking a new coach.
De Laurentiis needs to find a replacement for Luciano Spalletti after he stepped down.
Fedele told TMW Radio: "(Rafa) Benitez was consulted by an intermediary. ADL took the situation in hand and the results prove him right.
"He is looking for (Roberto) Mancini. He met with everyone, (Paulo) Sousa signed a contract with Salernitana but met mistakenly with ADL. If I were (Danilo) Iervolino I would relieve him of his post, out of respect for the club and the fans.
"I believe he is trying to convince (Christophe) Galtier and wants to keep (Victor) Osimhen another year but if you don't give him 10 million he won't stay, and if he doesn't stay, they'll hardly fight for the Champions League."
