MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Monday said the police officer aunt of the 14-year-old suspect in the San Jose National High School shooting in Tacloban, Leyte is set to face raps over supposed negligence in the safekeeping of her firearm resulting in the access of her nephew to it.
Meanwhile, the gun used by the 15-year-old suspect was found out to be registered to a security agency in Cebu, PCol. Allen Rae Co.
On Monday morning, two minors relentlessly shot students at school killing three and injuring seven. Tacloban police said initial investigation suggests that the shooting was a retaliation of the two suspects who were bullied at school.
Upon background check, the Co said authorities found social media posts from one of the suspects showing acts of violence.
“Upon verification of the social media account of one of one of the suspects, may mga nakita po tayong mga pinost niya na violent videos pertaining to guns, video of him firing a gun, ito ay very obviously red flags,” Co said.
“If anybody was able to monitor itong mga red flags na ‘to this could have been prevented,” Co said.
