Female student arrested for allegedly hurting classmate with kerambit at school

THE situation at a secondary school in Shah Alam turned chaotic after a male student was injured by his female classmate using a kerambit last week.

The incident is said to have occurred at around 11.42 am on Wednesday, involving both 14-year-olds.

Shah Alam District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Sarudin Samah, said the victim only suffered minor injuries to his arm as a result of the incident.

He said that following the incident, the suspect was detained to assist in the investigation of the case.

“Results of the investigation found that the sharp weapon used by the suspect was a 10-centimetre kerambit. There was no specific purpose or motive because the suspect was unwell,” he said today.

He said the suspect had been granted police bail and the case was being investigated under Section 324 of the Penal Code.

Those convicted could face imprisonment of up to 10 years, a fine, whipping, or any two of those punishments.
