PETALING JAYA: The government has announced that Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM) and Unifi TV will be the official broadcasters for the FIFA World Cup 2026 in Malaysia, said Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil.

Speaking at a weekly press conference today, he said the matches will be available via free-to-air television through MyTV, as well as over-the-top (OTT) platforms including RTM Klik and Unifi TV.

He said full coverage of all 104 matches will be aired live on Unifi TV, while RTM will broadcast most matches either live or on a delayed basis, giving fans wider viewing options.

“The arrangement ensures inclusive and extensive access for football fans across the country.

“The Grandstand programme will be produced from Angkasapuri Kota Media, featuring main broadcasts in Bahasa Malaysia and selected segments in English.

“Updates will also be shared through RTM’s Selamat Pagi Malaysia programme,” he said.

Fahmi also said that public viewing events will be organised at selected locations on a modest scale to encourage community participation and fan engagement.

He added that several sponsors have been identified and are currently being finalised, with announcements expected soon.

At the same time, the government stressed strict enforcement of anti-piracy regulations for all World Cup-related content, urging all parties to act responsibly.

“Enforcement action will be strengthened against any violations,” he said.

Fahmi said the government hopes the FIFA World Cup 2026 will unite Malaysians through the spirit of sport and togetherness.

He also encouraged those who have yet to do so to download the RTM Klik application via Google Play or the Apple App Store for easier access to content.
