
Congress mayoral candidate Kamal Diwan, who contested unsuccessfully the mayoral election, extended his gratitude to the voters who trusted his policies and vision, and voted for him. He said that their trust is his strength.
Notably, BJP’s Rajiv Jain defeated Kamal Diwan of Congress continuously for the second time in the mayoral election. Earlier, Jain defeated Kamal Diwan in the mayoral by-poll held in March 2025 by 34,970 votes and now, again by 23,247 votes on Wednesday.
Accepting defeat, Diwan said that as many as 54,786 voters have trusted him. He said that he would firmly stand with Sonepat’s residents and would fight for their rights. He went on to say that the public mandate is supreme in democracy.
He said that 54,786 votes is an example that hundreds of families have accepted their vision. He also thanked the party workers for their hard work and said that this unity will always be a strength in the future.
