
Kota Kinabalu: A 25-year-old Filipino claimed trial to impersonating a policeman and trying to check the document of a woman.
Mohd Nor Ajjid made the plea before Magistrate Jessica Ombou Kakayun when the charge against him was read on Friday.
He is accused of impersonating as a police officer and trying to check the document of Ruslianan Zul at 4.14pm on April 3 this year at the Kedai Runcit Junction Trading Manggatal, near here.
Mohd Nor Ajid allegedly committed the offence together with an accomplice still at large.
The offence under Section 170 of the Penal Code and read together with Section 34 of the same Code which provides for a jail term of up to two years, or fine, or both, on conviction.
The court fixed May 23 for pre-trial case management and ordered Mohd Nor to be remanded further pending the disposal of his case as he was not a Malaysian citizen and has no valid documents.
Inspector Albert Basiri prosecuted while Mohd Nor was not represented.
In another case, a 43-year-old man was charged with dishonestly using electricity supply.
Lim Seng Yeng pleaded not guilty before Magistrate Stephanie Sherron Abbie.
Lim allegedly dishonestly used the electricity supply at 3pm on April 6 this year at a house in Taman Nelly Phase 8B in Jalan Nountun Inanam, near here.
The offence under Section 37(3)(c) of the Electricity Supply Act 1990 and punishable under Section 37(3)(A)(i) of the same Act which provides for a fine of between RM1,000 and RM50,000, or a jail term of up to a year, or both, on conviction.
The court released Lim on a bail of RM2,000 (fixed deposit/account saving without card) in two local sureties.
His pre-trial case management had been fixed on April 28 this year.
