
MANILA, Philippines — A Filipino nurse died while two others were injured in a road accident in Tabuk, Saudi Arabia on January 31, the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) said on Wednesday.
Labor Attaché Fidel A. Macauyag said upon receiving information on the incident and instructions from DMW Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac, a four-person team from the Migrant Workers Office in Jeddah was sent to Tabuk to assist the victims.
“The initial report stated that the trio was on their way home from Tabuk Park Mall when the accident happened. The suspected driver was immediately arrested and is undergoing investigation by local police. One of the injured nurses was transferred to Riyadh for further medical treatment and surgery,” the DMW said in a statement.
The agency said that assistance is being provided in facilitating the immediate repatriation of the deceased nurse, including helping the family get their necessary documents.
