Kota Kinabalu: A 34-year-old Filipino who was previously sentenced to a total of 43 months’ jail by the Magistrate’s Court for various offences was back in court, this time charged together with another man with gang robbery involving a 19-year-old girl.
Sahiron Redzgilul, 34, believed to be known as “Ketua Geng Gurun”, and Cyril John Paniah, 43, each pleaded guilty to the charge before Sessions Court Judge Amir Shah Amir Hassan.
However, sentencing was deferred to Nov 5 this year pending the submission of the facts of the case.
In the meantime, both men were ordered to remain in remand.
The duo was accused of committing gang robbery against the teenage girl at a house in Taman Austral here at 6.45am on Aug 27 this year.
They allegedly committed the offence together with another accomplice who is still at large.
The offence under Section 395 of the Penal Code carries a jail term of up to 20 years and whipping upon conviction.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Nurul Shaferrah Mad Iskim appeared for the prosecution, while both accused were unrepresented.
Meanwhile, a 58-year-old man was sentenced to five years’ imprisonment for a third conviction involving the consumption of syabu.
Awang Azmi Mohd Talib admitted to consuming the drug at 9.30pm on Apr 4 this year after his urine tested positive for drugs at the Papar police station.
He had two previous convictions for the same offence.
Upon completing his jail sentence, he was ordered to be placed under police supervision.
