The sudden passing of Sarawak General Hospital nurse Vanessa Anak Ewot has left her family, colleagues and fellow healthcare workers mourning the loss.
Her final morning at home
According to an account from a friend, Vanessa had just returned home after completing her night shift and was still wearing her nurse’s uniform.
That morning, she hugged her husband and kissed her child, with no one knowing that those would be her final moments with them. She had also prepared food for the family, but the breakfast she had prepared was still untouched
Vanessa, a U5 nurse at Sarawak General Hospital, was reported to have passed away on Aug 2, 2026.
Goodbye comes without any warning
Someone can finish a night shift, return home as usual, hug their loved ones and prepare breakfast, only for everything to change moments later.
Her passing has left behind a grieving family and colleagues who have lost not only a fellow healthcare worker, but someone they knew and cared about.
