In view of the growing traffic congestion in the town, a meeting of a specialised committee was held here on Friday to explore solutions. Public Works Department (PWD) Minister Ranbir Gangwa, who chaired the meeting, asked officials to come up with special plans to make traffic movement in the town smooth, safe and systematic.

The meeting was attended by former minister Dr Kamal Gupta, Nalwa MLA Randhir Panihar, Mayor Praveen Popli, Zila Parishad Chairperson Sonu Sihag, Superintendent of Police Siddhant Jain, Additional Deputy Commissioner Utsav Anand, Municipal Commissioner Neeraj, SDM Jyoti Mittal, former chairman Satbir Verma and senior officials of various departments.

During the meeting, the officials informed the minister that nearly all departments have granted NOCs for widening the main road from Lakshmi Bai Chowk to Town Park into a six-lane road. Further action will be initiated after a budgetary approval from the Additional Chief Secretary of the Public Works Department.

The officials added that the tender for the construction of the Dabra Chowk junction has been prepared. Regarding the proposed road on both sides of the Irrigation Department drain from Government College on Rajgarh Road towards Kamri Road and Tosham Road, it was informed that there are no obstructions for nearly 615 metres and tenders for road construction will be floated soon.

Action is also being taken against encroachments on the remaining stretch.
