Kota Kinabalu: A 35-year-old man who caused injuries to his ex-girlfriend by hitting and biting her, as well threatening to kill her, was fined a total of RM5,800.
Mohd Aideed Husein pleaded guilty before two Magistrates Dzul Elmy Yunus and Marilyn Kelvin, separately to two charges against him.
On the first count before Dzul Elmy, Mohd Aideed was fined RM1,800 in default six months’ jail for voluntarily causing hurt to the 30-year-old woman in front of a shop at Lorong Suria Inanam 1, near here, on Sept 15 this year.
The offence under Section 323 of the Penal Code carries a jail term of up to one year or a fine or both, upon conviction.
On the second case, Marilyn ordered Mohd Aideed to pay a fine of RM4,000 in default, nine months’ imprisonment for making a verbal threat to kill the victim at the same place and day.
The offence under Section 506 of the Penal Code which provides for a jail term of up to seven years or a fine or both, upon conviction.
The court heard that on the incident day, when both Mohd Aideed and the victim were inside the car, they were quarrelling and he threatened to kill the victim if she wanted to break their relationship.
Apart from that, Mohd Aideed also injured the victim by hitting her and biting her right arm.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Akaash Singh appeared for the prosecution while Mohd Aideed was unrepresented.
