Kota Kinabalu: A 26-year-old man who threatened to kill his wife and sent her a picture of a knife via WhatsApp was fined RM2,000 or three months jail.

Security guard Mohd Azmil Kamsani pleaded guilty before Magistrate Wan Farrah Farriza Wan Ghazali to committing the offence to his 25-year-old wife at 11.28pm on June 3 at a room on the third floor of Sinsuran here.

The prosecution told the court that the wife received a phone call from her husband before an argument ensued between them due to a misunderstanding where Azmil also threatened to kill her.

Azmil also sent her a picture of a knife via WhatsApp, said the prosecution, adding that the wife then left the room with their one-year-old son as she feared for her life as she was once beaten by him early this year and received treatment at the hospital.
