  • New Zealand batter Finn Allen broke a T20 World Cup record in his side’s nine-wicket thrashing of South Africa on Wednesday.
  • The Kiwis headed into the match as the underdogs against a previously unbeaten South Africa side who beat them in the group stages.
  • However, New Zealand kept South Africa down to 169-8 before Allen joined Tim Seifert at the crease to start the run chase.
  • Seifert scored 58 off 33 balls, but was outshone by Allen who hit 100 off just 33 balls.
  • Allen’s knock was the fastest century ever in T20 World Cup history, breaking the record previously held by West Indies great Chris Gayle.
