PUTRAJAYA – The rear section of the stage at the hall of Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Putrajaya Presint 14(1) caught fire in an incident at around 6pm on Thursday.
Presint 14(1) Fire and Rescue Station Chief, Assistant Fire Superintendent Dianty Hussain said the fire involved chairs and tables stored at the back of the stage, with the affected area estimated at approximately 12 by 50 square feet.
“We received the call at 6.10pm, and the fire was fully extinguished by 6.30pm,” she said when met by reporters at the scene.
She added that no casualties were reported as the school session had already ended at the time of the incident.
“When we arrived, parents and teachers were already helping to control the situation to ensure that students stayed away from the area,” she said.
According to her, a total of 12 personnel were involved in the operation, using two hose reel lines and two 200-foot hose lines, with water sourced from the fire engine tank and a nearby hydrant.
