A massive fire broke out in a forest area near Shimla, causing huge damage to the forest. However, no loss of life has been reported.

The fire broke out on Tuesday in a forest area near Badagaon sewage treatment plant, which quickly spread in the forest, engulfing several trees and bushes. The fire was noticed by locals who alerted the fire and forest departments.

Teams from the two departments rushed to the spot and started the efforts to put out the fire.

Shimla (Rural) SDM Manjeet Sharma said the exact cause of fire and the total loss are being ascertained.

With the surge in temperatures across the state, forest fires have become common. On Sunday, a massive fire was reported at Dharampur in Solan, causing huge damage to the forest.
