
KUNAK: A grocery store was destroyed in a fire at Kampung Bagiang, off Jalan Bagiang, here, on Monday.
Kunak Fire and Rescue Department (FRD) Chief Mohamad Omarbatha said he received an emergency call at 8.26pm through the station line.
He said the fire involved a two-story building where the ground floor is used as a grocery store, while the first floor is where the owner lives.
“The lower level of the interior of the 40x40 feet store was destroyed while the first floor was unaffected,” Omar said.

Read more A team of firemen led by Operations Commander PBK II Kamarulzaman Ruslie rushed to the scene, 1km from the station, with a fire engine and EMRS ambulance.
Police and the Malaysian Civil Defence Department (APM) also assisted the operation. “The fire was put under control at 8.40pm and the operations ended at 9.40pm,” Omar said.
No casualty was reported while the cause of the fire and the amount of losses are still under investigations.
