The Russian military has again reported a large-scale Ukrainian drone attack overnight, the Defence Ministry in Moscow said on Tuesday.

It said 315 enemy flying objects were intercepted over almost all regions of western and central Russia, including the capital region around Moscow.

The figure suggests a major attack, but Russian military statistics, unlike Ukrainian counts, do not offer details on the interception rate.

Attack on Yaroslavl refinery

According to Russian and Ukrainian Telegram channels, one target appeared to be the refinery in Yaroslavl on the Volga northeast of Moscow.

Regional governor Mikhail Yevrayev said drone debris triggered a fire in an industrial facility, the state news agency TASS reported.

The main road to Moscow was closed. The refinery, one of the largest in Russia, is located along the road.

For months, the Ukrainian army has been systematically attacking refineries, pumping stations and export ports of Russia's oil industry.

The aim is to disrupt the Russian army's fuel supply and to reduce the Kremlin's war chest through export losses.

A massive Ukrainian drone attack last weekend caused damage in Moscow's suburbs for the first time.

Three injured in Kharkiv

Meanwhile, the Ukrainian Air Force said Russia attacked overnight with 209 drones of various types. It said 180 were intercepted.

Hits were reported in Kharkiv, where civilian authorities said three people were injured. Another target was said to be the Danube port of Izmail.

Russia has been waging a devastating war against neighbouring Ukraine for more than four years.
