
MANILA, Philippines — Fire broke out at the Office of the Vice Mayor on the second floor of Manila City Hall early Wednesday morning, according to the Manila City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Department (DRRMD).
The Manila Public Information Office (PIO), citing the DRRMD, said that the fire was reported for verification at 5:35 a.m. A positive alarm was raised at 5:38 a.m., followed by the first alarm at 5:57 a.m.
The fire was placed under control at 6:15 a.m. and was declared out at 6:21 a.m.
The office is occupied by Manila Vice Mayor Chi Atienza.
The Manila PIO said there would be no suspension of work at City Hall, following the directive of Manila City Mayor Isko Moreno.
Authorities are expected to investigate the cause of the fire and assess the damage.
