Ryan Bang tears up over search for love: ‘Makakahanap kaya ako?’

MANILA, Philippines — Ryan Bang opened up about his hopes of finding love during Wednesday’s episode of “It’s Showtime” where he became emotional and asked Vice Ganda if he would eventually find someone.

The emotional moment came as the hosts looked back on Bang’s recent appearance at Yeng Constantino’s “Biyaheng Bente: 20th Anniversary Concert,” where the singer personally serenaded him with her song “Sabihin Mo Na.”

Bang thanked Vice for bringing him to the concert, saying the experience brought back memories.

“Thank you, mami, kasi sinama mo ako sa concert ni Yeng. Nag-flashback sa akin lahat, mami.” (“Thank you, Mommy, for bringing me to Yeng’s concert. Everything came flooding back to me.”) Mami is a term of endearment.

Vice then asked why Bang was becoming emotional as he struggled to hold back tears.

“Mami, makakahanap kaya ako?” (“Mommy, do you think I’ll find someone?”)

“Siyempre, tulad ni Yeng na nung umpisa ko, wala akong pangbayad ng date. Wala akong kotse. Di ba Wala akong pera. Paulit-ulit yung damit ko, pero minahal..may chance pala ako sa kanya.” (“Of course, like with Yeng, when I was starting out, I didn’t have money to pay for dates. I didn’t have a car. I didn’t have money. I kept wearing the same clothes, but I loved...I had a chance.”)

Bang’s comments come months after he and his non-showbiz fiancée, Paola Huyong, ended their engagement. He confirmed in June 2026 that he was singleband that the wedding was no longer pushing through.

In a candid conversation with Vice on her YouTube vlog, Bang cited differencesbin culture, beliefs and expectations surrounding marriage as among the factors that led to their split.

He previously described the canceled wedding as the “darkest and hardest time” of his life, while also crediting his family and close friends, including Vice, for supporting him through the difficult period.

Bang’s exchange with Vice also brought attention back to his long-discussed history with Constantino.During the second night of Constantino’s anniversary concert, the singer stepped offstage to Bang with “Sabihin Mo Na” and jokingly recalled how she had a huge crush on him in 2010.

Constantino revealed that she used to pay for their dates because she liked him.

“Yung kay Ryan kasi ang nangyari sa’min sineen-zoned niya ako. Crush nabcrush kita non. Tapos ako yung nanglilibre sa kanya pang-date.” (“What happened between Ryan and me was that he seen-zoned me. I had such a huge crush on you back then. And I was the one paying for our dates.”)

She recalled how she would tell Bang to simply show up at a restaurant where she would foot the bill.

Yeng later thanked Bang for finally explaining what happened between them.

“Pero sobrang thank you na nilinaw mo rin ang istorya natin kasi that gave me a context na di naman pala ako pangit, na nagustuhan mo pa rin pala ako but it was not the right time.” (“But thank you so much for clarifying our story because that gave me context that I wasn’t unattractive, that you did like me, but it was not the right time.”)

In a January 2022 episode of “It’s Showtime,” Bang explained that he stopped courting Constantino because he believed she did not feel the same way about him.

“Kasi for the past 12 years, na akala ko wala akong pag-asa, akala ko ayaw mo sa akin. Kaya ako naduwag sa sarili ko,” he said then. (“For the past 12 years, I thought I had no chance, I thought you didn’t like me. That’s why I became afraid of my own feelings.”)

Bang also admitted that he wondered what might have happened if he had been more confident about pursuing Constantino.

“Kung hindi ako naduwag non, kung pinush ko yung naramdaman ko sa’yo noon, baka hanggang ngayon, tayo pa rin. Di ba? Hindi natin alam eh.” (“If I hadn’t been afraid back then, if I had pursued what I felt for you, maybe we would still be together now. Right? We’ll never know.”)

He also recalled feeling inadequate at the time, particularly because of Constantino’s popularity and success.

“Tuwing punta ako concert mo, ang dami nagsigaw sa’yo. Pagkatapos ng concert mo, marami pa-picture sa’yo pero hindi ako kilala ng mga tao noon eh. So, nahihiya ako sa sarili ko na hindi ako para sa’yo.” (“Whenever I went to your concerts, so many people would scream for you. After your concerts, many people would still line up to have their pictures taken with you, but people didn’t know me back then. So I felt ashamed of myself, thinking I wasn’t good enough for you.”)

“Kahit totoo naman yung naramdaman ko sa’yo at minahal naman talaga kita.” ("Even though what I felt for you was real, and I really did love you.”)

Constantino is now married to musician and worship leader Victor “Yan" Asuncion. The couple married on Feb. 14, 2015, in Tagaytay and renewed their vows on their 10th wedding anniversary in February 2025.

Back on Wednesday’s episode, Vice assured Constantino that he did not need to worry about finding love.

“Hindi ka makahahanap. Ikaw ang hahanapin ng pag-ibig. Kaya hindi mo kailangang maghanap.” (“You won’t have to find it. Love will find you. So you don’t have to search for it.”)

“Love will find you. Just wait. We just wait,” Vice added.

She and the other hosts continued to reassure Bang that he was valued and appreciated.

“We see you,” Vice told him, emphasizing that they see both his character and his appearance.

“Nakikita namin ang kagandahan ng puso mo at ang kapugian ng panglabas mong kaanyuan.” (“We see the beauty of your heart and the handsomeness of your outward appearance.”)

Bang thanked Vice and the “It’s Showtime” family for their support.
