A 26-year-old man was rescued by firefighters after being trapped six metres high in a rambutan tree when a branch fell on him in Kampung Air Melintang Besar

TASEK GELUGOR: Firefighters successfully rescued a man trapped six metres high in a rambutan tree after a falling branch pinned him in place.

The Penang Fire and Rescue Department received an emergency call at 12.36 pm regarding the incident in Kampung Air Melintang Besar.

Assistant director of Fire and Rescue Operations John Sagun Francis said the 26-year-old had climbed the tree to cut a branch.

“The branch then fell on him, causing back pain and preventing him from descending,” he stated in a press release.

Firefighters used a ladder to safely bring the conscious victim down from the tree.

The man sustained a spinal injury during the incident and was transferred to a Health Ministry medical team for treatment. – Bernama
