KUNAK: Firefighters’ quick action saved a house in the neighbourhood from being destroyed by fire in at a residential area in Lorong 4, Kg Jaya Baru, Wednesday morning.
Head of Kunak’s Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM), Mohammad Omarbatha, said an emergency call was received at 6.37am.
“A team if firefighters together with a machine and EMRS vehicle went to the scene one kilometre away,” he said.
The operation was led by PBK II Abdul Rasah Kaluang with members carrying out extinguishing works from the water source of the FRT machinery.
The fire destroyed 20 per cent of the kitchen. The operations at 7.30 am.
No casualties were reported while the cause and total loss were under investigation.
Meanwhile, a resident of the house said the he realised that his rented house was on fire when he saw smoke billowing while he was throwing garbage not far from the house.
“ I rushed to the house and alerted the neighbours. Thank goodness, we are all safe…only properties were destroyed by fire”, he said.
