Ballot boxes from SK Inarad are the first to reach the official counting centre for the Kinabatangan parliamentary by-election.
KINABATANGAN: The first two ballot boxes for the Kinabatangan parliamentary by-election arrived at the Official Vote Counting Centre at Dewan Sri Lamag at 3 pm.
The boxes came from the polling centre at Sekolah Kebangsaan Inarad, which closed at noon.
Polling station head Ronny @ Sior Bataim transported the boxes via helicopter, accompanied by Election Commission officers.
After landing at the Kinabatangan District Council field, the ballot boxes were taken to the hall under police guard.
The parliamentary by-election is a three-cornered contest between Barisan Nasional’s Mohd Kurniawan Naim Moktar, Datuk Saddi Abdul Rahman of Warisan, and independent candidate Goldam Hamid.
The Lamag state seat by-election is a straight fight between BN’s Mohd Ismail Ayob and Warisan’s Mazliwati Abdul Malek.
Both by-elections were triggered by the death of incumbent MP and assemblyman Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin on Dec 5 last year. – Bernama
