BEAUFORT: Police arrested five suspects aged between 37 to 44 years involved in drugs in Membakut, Kuala Penyu and Beaufort recently, said District Police Chief Yusoff Zaki Yaacob.

“During Ops Tapis, we stopped a suspicious white Perodua Viva at Limbawang By-Pass with two men, both aged 37, inside.

“As police approached the car, it suddenly sped off towards Beaufort, almost knocking into a policeman in the process,” he said.

The suspects were however apprehended after a two-kilometer chase and it was found that the road tax and insurance cover of the car had expired.

“We also found instruments believed to be used for taking Syabu and a knife measuring 26cm,” he added.

He said both suspects were arrested and were being investigated under Section 186 of the Penal Code and Section 15 (1) ADB 1952.

Meanwhile, Kuala Penyu police also arrested two men, aged 40, recently.

“Both suspects were arrested in front of an unnumbered house at Kampung Purun for suspected drug abuse.

“Their urine tests were positive and the case is being investigated under Section 15 (1) (a) ADB 1952,” Yusoff said.

A 44-year-old man was meanwhile arrested in Membakut also recently during a police patrol.

“The man acted suspiciously and upon inspection Police found apparatus for drug taking hidden on him.

“He also failed his urine test and is being investigated under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drug Act 1952.
