A MARRIED couple and their three children were killed in a devastating house fire that razed their home in Kampung Pamah Kulat in the early hours of Thursday, authorities said.

The victims were discovered after firefighters brought the blaze under control at the single-storey semi-permanent house, measuring approximately 40 by 30 feet.

Raub district police chief Superintendent Mohd Shahril Abdul Rahman said police received information about the incident at about 3.35am.

“As soon as the fire was extinguished, we discovered all the victims at the scene,” he said when contacted on Thursday.

He added that all five bodies would be taken to Hospital Raub for further action.

Pahang Fire and Rescue Department director Datuk Mohd Razam Taja Rahim said the department received an emergency call at 3.44am, prompting a fire engine from the Raub Fire and Rescue Station to be dispatched to the scene.

The first responding unit arrived at 4.15am and found the house engulfed in flames.

“Based on the operational report, five victims were found burnt to death inside the house, involving an adult man and woman together with three children.

“The destruction to the house structure was 100 per cent, and three cars as well as three motorcycles were also burnt,” he said in a statement.

Firefighters battled the blaze using a 200-foot hose line and two water jets supplied by the fire engine’s pump tank.

The operation was led by operations commander Senior Fire Officer Saiful Bahari Abd Rahman, with nine personnel from the Raub station assisted by five members from the Lipis Fire and Rescue Station.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. - February 26, 2026
