KOTA MARUDU: Five houses and four motorcycles were destroyed in a fire at Kampung Talantang, Jalan Damai, early Friday.
Kota Marudu Fire and Rescue Station Chief PKPgB Debli Mamoi said 11 firefighters led by PBK II Aloysius Juin Asumo, together with two fire engines, were dispatched to the scene, about 15km away, after receiving an emergency call via the 999 hotline at 2.19am.
He said the team arrived at 2.43am and brought the blaze under control at 3.17am using two 400-foot hose lines, three water jets from the fire engines and an open water source.
No injuries or fatalities were reported, while the operation ended at 5.33am.
The cause of the fire and the estimated losses are still under investigation, Debli said.
