Five people, including two suspects, died in a shooting at an Islamic centre in the US city of San Diego on Monday, local police said.
San Diego Police Chief Scott Wahl said that there was "no further threat" during a press briefing.
"Both suspects in this case are deceased." The two suspects, males believed to be 17 and 19, were found dead in a vehicle in the car park, the police chief said. Authorities currently believe the suspects took their own lives.
"We have three confirmed adults that are deceased at the Islamic centre," Wahl said, stressing that all children were safe. The centre includes a mosque and an Islamic school.
Wahl said that "because of the Islamic centre location, we are considering this a hate crime."
Police said that one of the deceased was a security guard at the centre. According to media reports the other two were employees.
Police responded with a massive operation to reports of a shooting following a first call at 11:43 am (1843 GMT). Helicopter footage showed officers in protective gear entering the building in a suburb of the southern Californian city. The footage also showed people, including many young children, being escorted away from the building under police protection.
